Is chiropractic safe for pregnant women?

Chiropractic care is a vital part of pre-natal care. Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can relieve and even prevent the common discomforts experienced in pregnancy. Specific adjustments eliminate these stresses in your spine, restore balance to your pelvis and result in greater comfort and lifestyle improvements. As the baby grows, more and more physical accommodations have to be made in the mother’s body and these changes often result in pelvic misalignments that must be corrected during pregnancy in order to ensure proper development of the baby as well as comfort for the mom. It is especially important to have the pelvis aligned properly so that when it comes time for delivery, the baby is in the right position for a fast and stress free birth. As the pregnancy progresses, the uterus is stretched and if it is constrained due to tight or imbalanced ligaments that support it, having a more difficult delivery is a much higher risk. Often times we hear of a labor that “just slows down” and eventually results in a C-Section due to the lack of progression of labor, when in actuality, the problem has to do with the constraint of the baby within the uterus – which can be avoided most of the time with proper pelvic alignment during the pregnancy.

glendale chiropractors 85304Dr. Carla is trained specifically in dealing with the many issues facing pregnant moms and has adjusted dozens of pregnant women and their newborn babies through out the years. She also is a mother of two daughters, so she knows exactly what happens to the female body during this remarkable process of life. She has equipped her office with special adjusting tables built to accommodate that pregnant belly so that moms-to-be can lie face down (most women say they don’t want to get up once they get that opportunity!) and relax while they receive their life giving adjustments. The chiropractic adjustment removes interference to the nervous system allowing the uterus to function at its maximum potential. Because the mother’s nervous system is functioning at 100% during her pregnancy, her baby is going to be off to a healthier start.
